How to clean warm mist humidifier?

I have a warm mist humidifier thats been sitting in my basement for a few years. I would like to use it but i’m afraid even if I clean it w/bleach my family will be breathing in unhealthy bacteria. How can I clean it good inside the housing?

run white vinegar thru it a couple of times, then plain water a couple of times. No Bleach.
