Why did the water in my humidifier turn gray?

The Conservative Journal asked:


I just purchased a Vick’s Warm Air Humidifier and noticed halfway through the last tank of water that all of the water in the tank had turned gray. Does anyone have any idea why this happened? Any help is much appreciated.
