Will the hermit crab survive?

Just an hour ago, we got home from a boardwalk. We’re on vacation, and I decided to get a hermit crab, along with a kit for $25.

I’ve read up online and have decided to get it the proper care it will need (ie a ten gallon tank, humidifier, heater, dishes, toys, substrate, etc etc).

We’ll be leaving in 4 days.

The temporary home is, at best, tiny. There are some neon pink rocks for bedding, a wet sponge, another shell, and some plastic plants. We’re also using shells we found (and cleaned… ; D) as the food and water dishes. The kit came with food for him too.

We’ve been misting the cage to keep it humid, and I’ve taken the small secondary lid off the top and replaced it with a wet rag for more humidity. We’re gonna keep him outside right now, and inside at night (outside would be an enclosed, humid, hot, back porch).

The cage is more of a plastic, tiny, box. There’s holes at the top for air.

Will he survive until we can get him home (transportation will be through car)?
By the way, we own two cats at home.

I wanna give this little guy as much love and attention as we give our cats.
