A humidifier is used in a bedroom kept at 22 degrees celsius. The bedroom’s volume is 4.0 * 10^4 L. Assume that the air is originally dry and no moisture leaves the room while the humidifier is operating.

a. If the humidifier has a capacity of 3.00 gallons of H2O, will there be enough to saturate the room with water vapor (vp of H2O at 22 degrees celsius = 19.83 mm Hg; d water = 1.00g/cm^3)?

b. What is the final pressure of water vapor in the room when the humidifier has vaporized two-thirds of its water supply?

I have no idea how to do this. Please help me.

  1. See problem #8 for the solution to part a.

I’ll do part b down the road a bit. Time for dinner, then watch some “Arrested Development” on the big screen.
