Ok so I found a frog in my house the other day and decided hey i would like to keep him… So in a 10 gallon tank he went with some nice Spanish moss and some tree branches and a humidifier and the whole nine yards. I named him Ceasar. Well i went to go get some crickets for Ceasar at the local pet store and they gave me a box with a small hole in it to poke and put in his terrarium. Long story short i have one small tree frog and about 30 crickets in a small tank. Then after reading the vitamin powder instructions it said not to leave the crickets in there over night because they could harm your pet. So because of all the moss in there it is impossible to remove all the crickets so i went outside and caught two gecko’s to help Ceasar with the crickets. So my question is can gecko’s and tree frogs live alright together??? Is Ceasar in any danger?

I ran out of that anti-bacterial liquid I put in at every refill and can’t find it at the store. Will vinegar serve the same purpose and if so, how much should I use for a 3 1/2 gallon tank?

I have a console humidifier (Bemis) which adds ~2.5 gallons of water/day..in the winter, to humidify our house. I need to fill it’s reservoir daily! I use the same “softened” well water, that is used throughout the house.
Problem: there is a decided build-up of a “white solids” on the humidifier “wick”, after ~1 month of use! I need to remove it, usually by soaking the wick in a nearby laundry sink full of warm water.
Question: How can I “treat” the supply water to the humidifier to
remove the minerals in it?? Are there disposable, “deminerailizer pads” available which I could put in the humidifier tank?

Every morning I wake up completely dehydrated - my lips hurt, my throat burns, and my nose is completely swollen shut. I’ve got a humidifier and I drink nearly a half gallon of water before sleeping, but nothing helps? Do you have any advice?

I have several plants in my kitchen. Most are doing poorly while the rest are doing fair. My kitchen has south and west facing windows and I supplement them with several plant-style floriscent blubs….running 16 hours….as well. I have two humidifiers running to keep the kitchen at 65% humidity because the furnace is constantly running. I live in the upper midwest and it’s winter here now. I also have a gas stove. Now many of the plants have poor growth habits. Stunted, misshapen and slow growth. Some even have dropped new leaves. I keep them well watered….not over watered….and at normal house temps….75-80….as well as ferderized on a weekly basis at 1/4 tsp to 1 gallon. Ortho brand. Given all this info can someone tell what I’m doing wrong?
The reason I question the affects of gas on plants is that every now and again I get a wiff of gas and the stove is probably from the late 70’s. I rent, btw. Now I understand that each house can have it’s own micro-climate and I’m wondering if mine has changed in the last 10 years. I use to be able to growth anything and everything including violets and orchids but now those don’t seem to even last a month. I probably also use more chemicals now then I did 10 years ago. I try to stick to mostly low-light plants but even they at times have failed me and I use wick-watering method on many of the plants.

I have a handful of questions on my new but not working Aprilaire Humidifer.
1. it is hooked up to drain in my sump pump is that OK?
2. The sump pump never runs but now is a lot (it went off twice in an hour). I had the humidifer drain into a bucket and while running ( i turned the heat way up so it would stay on) it filled a 5 gallon bucket in 50 minutes, is that normal? I would think much less should be coming out.
3. Next to the sump pump is my main drain out of the house, a thick PVC pipe, is it possible/better to tap into that.
4. Currently, it goes on when the heater is on but since it cannot get the humiditiy above 28 the installer is going to come back and attach it to the fan so I can have it run longer.
Is that normal or should it be working with just the heat.
He thought once I got it up to 35 it should be able to maintain going back to just the heat.
4. The installer did not installl the outdoor tempature gague on the Aprilair because he said it was better to control on your own, does anyone have thought on if it is a nice feature to have or more of a gimic?
I really appreciate any help anyone can offer. We have a newborn and I am trying to get the humidity up for her.
House is in MD, 4400 square feet with two zones. The one in question does the basement and middle floor. Upstairs I am using potables.
THANK YOU!
