I just purchased a Vick’s Warm Air Humidifier and noticed halfway through the last tank of water that all of the water in the tank had turned gray. Does anyone have any idea why this happened? Any help is much appreciated.

I have this humidifier which I have not used in a while but left water in it. I want to store it but want to clean it first, and I threw away the cleaning instructions. If anyone knows how please share so it will be ready when I need to use it again.

I need to buy a humidifier but I’m not sure what is out there. I’ve been told to get a warm mist humidifier but I don’t know the difference between warm and cold mist. I’m looking for one that is low maintenance (no filters, easy to clean), can cover at least 1500sqft, is quiet, and one that won’t break the bank. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

A yahoo answers responder advised me to put 1 tablespoon of salt in my humidifier because it wasn’t working. Like magic, the addition of the salt brought it to life. However a lot of black dirt keeps accumulating in the water tank. Do I keep putting salt in the tank till all the dirt is gone and water is clear or do I put salt in whenever I use it. The mist is emerging beautifully but the tank water is gross! Is this filthy water going to pollute my lungs or help me breathe?
