i have a cough and my mom has been running the vaporizer/humidifier (whatever it is called!) and im wondering, what is the point of runniing one while sick and what is the point of elevating your head when you sleep.

the Dr. recommended that I buy a cool mist humidifier for my daughter so that she can breath better. But now I’m wondering how long should I do it? and if there is a such thing as a “humidifier season”?

Does it do any good to run a warm air mist humidifier on low in a room that is also running air conditioning?

My humidifier says I shud change the filter, via the little arrow key on the primitive fan gizmo. My cousin-in-law said if I kept it running, it would make me “REALLY sick” (I’m already quite sick). What’s the real deal?

I have a Lennox power humidifier model WP2-18. I have noticed that whenever I turn off the air-conditioning fan, the humidifier doesnot work. How are these two things tied together? Do I have to keep the fan running for the humidifier to be operational.

I have a handful of questions on my new but not working Aprilaire Humidifer.
1. it is hooked up to drain in my sump pump is that OK?
2. The sump pump never runs but now is a lot (it went off twice in an hour). I had the humidifer drain into a bucket and while running ( i turned the heat way up so it would stay on) it filled a 5 gallon bucket in 50 minutes, is that normal? I would think much less should be coming out.
3. Next to the sump pump is my main drain out of the house, a thick PVC pipe, is it possible/better to tap into that.
4. Currently, it goes on when the heater is on but since it cannot get the humiditiy above 28 the installer is going to come back and attach it to the fan so I can have it run longer.
Is that normal or should it be working with just the heat.
He thought once I got it up to 35 it should be able to maintain going back to just the heat.
4. The installer did not installl the outdoor tempature gague on the Aprilair because he said it was better to control on your own, does anyone have thought on if it is a nice feature to have or more of a gimic?
I really appreciate any help anyone can offer. We have a newborn and I am trying to get the humidity up for her.
House is in MD, 4400 square feet with two zones. The one in question does the basement and middle floor. Upstairs I am using potables.
THANK YOU!
